Whitecube is a studio run by Melbourne-based designer and artist, Chris Mether. Established in 2003, Whitecube specialises in museum design and the delivery of cultural content to the broader community. Whitecube services include; exhibition planning, design and development; community consultation, graphic and industrial design and project management. Design Method

At Whitecube we are committed to new and innovative designs and moving beyond formulaic responses to a given brief. When starting a new project, we immerse ourselves in available research material to explore all inherent possibilities and constraints.

The next phase of design is interpretation. Once the brief is well understood, the designer(s) can play with the content within the parameters. By sketching and prototyping, ideas can be communicated and tested to produce a range of possible trajectories. Concepts are then expanded and refined.

Research
Our creative and diverse responses to client briefs are based on the research sourced or supplied. We regard research as fundamental in the interplay of logic and intuition and in the delivery of great design solutions.

Understanding
We identify and examine problems holistically in the context of past, present, and future; society, language, and culture, to develop key insights which can inform the design solution.

Prototyping
We prototype a range of possibilities in order to arrive at a mutually desirable and appropriate outcome for our clients.

Sustainability
Whitecube continually researches new and exciting materials and processes that lessen our impact on the environment. We strive to be environmentally conscious when designing, sourcing materials and techniques and throughout the building stage.

Continuity
Finally, we articulate these individual components to create a visually stunning project in which the work comes together to deliver the desired outcome.
